Gull Harbor is a fast-paced, supernatural thriller with a hot and heavy romance. The hero is a young woman who's shunned the lawyer career her father planned for her, to be a medium, helping spirits cross over. When she takes on a house on Cape Cod for the summer to solve the mystery of an angry ghost, she realizes that helping this victim, brings danger to threaten her own life.
Add a second chance love story with the handsome tavern owner who left her five years earlier without an explanation and there's a whole lot of catching up and mystery solving to be done.
I especially enjoyed the setting on Cape Cod in the summertime and the small town atmosphere that surrounds our heroine.
Knight is a strong writer and keeps the pace cracking to the finish line where there are more than a few twists and surprises.
This book will appeal to readers of romantic suspense and paranormal romance, with the love scenes descriptive and plentiful.

This made for an easy reading, nothing to do, nothing on TV, sick in the bed with the flu kind of day. It was not a book that leaves a lasting impression but it wasn't a bad book either. If you are looking for a spooky/scary ghost story, then this will be a disappointment. This was more like a bland supernatural detective/love story type of book. It ranked 3 stars because it was an average book.
This was the first book I'd read by this author and I enjoyed it from the first page. The storyline was different from others I've read and this intrigued me. I was so involved in the story that I really hated "putting it down" to do other ordinary things (like sleeping, for one). I not only wanted to see how the mystery of Maria was solved, but I wanted to see how things turned out for Claire and Max. I'm glad to say that Ms. Knight did a great job of wrapping up all the loose ends. Ms. Knight did a great job of tying up all of the loose ends. I loved the book and would definitely recommend it to others - even if it is not your usual "cup of tea". It fits many genres, actually. It definitely fits paranormal, but there is romance, mystery, and humor mixed in so it is actually a book that I'd think everyone would enjoy. I certainly did. Thanks for a great read, Kathryn.
Claire comes to Gull Harbor to live in a house and to help the spirit violently haunting it to move on. She's a medium, not a psychic. So, little did she know when she walked in the local watering hole her ex who deserted her and disappeared in college is the owner. Hottie Mctottie Max never expected to see Claire ever again. He helped her come to terms with her gift in college and knows it could potentially be dangerous. She tries to keep him at arms length but he discovers it's not safe for her in the house and he's determined to protect her.
As they race to help the spirit haunting Claire's temporary home cross over they discover they need to protect Claire from another unknown attacker their romance reignites and they try to move past their history. If you're looking for a heart pounding, edge of your seat paranormal romantic suspense I highly recommend Gull Harbor.
Claire and Max were meant for each other, but a few really crucial obstacles got in the way. Maria was meant for a different life, but the obstacles she faced were insurmountable until Claire hit the scene.
Gull Harbor is the perfect book for your long airplane ride, or a rainy day. It is easy to read on the go too, with nothing to memorize, everything clear and concise and explained. It didn’t require my whole concentration to figure out, but knowing what was coming built up the anticipation.
I would recommend this book to anyone who believes in ghosts, or who likes to figure things out. Well written, great story line.
Claire has taken on the biggest case of her career, the haunting of a house in the small town of Gull Harbor. The residents moved out because they were being terrorized, and now Claire has the summer to get to the bottom of the ghost situation. On top of the challenging case, Claire runs into Max, the man she loved who broke her heart five years before. Claire has no idea how, but she is determined to solve the mystery and avoid Max.
I had been wanting to read this book for years because I am such a sucker for a paranormal mystery- through in some romance and it is just about perfect for me. When I had to opportunity to listen to an audio version of the book I was ecstatic and did not want to pass it up. I am happy to report that the book lived up to my long standing expectations mixing the mystery, paranormal and romance drama nicely to create the whole package.
Ok, so the reason my review went from 5 stars I felt for most of the book to the 4 stars I overall rated it was pretty much 100% due to the ending. The conflict in the book had been building the entire story and then was resolved within a tense chapter and then a few sentences wrap up later. I felt left out, like I missed seeing the end of a movie and a friend gave me a quick sentence filler! I wanted to see everything go down, not just casually hear how it resolved in passing. And the resolution was way too easy! Sure, we already knew who the killer was as well as the victim within the first 25% of the book, but I wanted more drama, more action, more suspense when it came to conflict. But that is just me, I like to see the action instead of hearing about it. I am sure others will love how the author wrapped up the mystery. (Keep in mind I loved the actual ending of the book, just not the mystery ending).
At first I was not sure if the narrator and I were going to mesh, I had my doubts. I am such a super picky listener and I have a short attention span so if I don't like the narrator I can't get into the book. It seemed as if the narrator was whispering when the book first started but as the story progressed it became less of an issue, more just a tone in her voice than an actual whisper and I was not bothered by it at all. As a side note, I now listen to all my audiobooks at 1.5x speed, anything slower is too slow for my attention span.
This was a standalone story with a happily ever after, a perfect rainy day mystery to lose yourself into and potentially get a startle from at times. I would easily read more books from this author as well as listen to more stories read by the narrator. Overall I felt like the audiobook was the complete package.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Kathryn Knight. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
